TERMS & CONDITIONS FOR APPLYING FOR MY DESIGN RULES DESIGNER CHALLENGE 2025

1. Introduction
   
   1.1 My Design Rules (“My Design Rules/Programme”) is a 13-episode reality competition television series that is provisionally scheduled to broadcast on SABC 3 between September and December 2025.

   1.2 My Design Rules will be produced by Cardova Trading (Pty) Ltd (“Cardova”), who owns all rights, title and interest in and to My Design Rules.

   1.3 My Design Rules will include a competition (“Competition”) where selected contenders (“Contenders”) will compete as duos in various property design-related challenges during an approximate period of 4 months between August and December 2025 (“Competition Period”), that will be televised as part of My Design Rules. Specific dates for the Competition will be determined by Cardova at its sole discretion and may be amended at Cardova’s discretion.

   1.4 My Design Rules is sponsored by Capitec Bank Limited, The Building Company (Pty) Ltd, Italtile Ceramics (Pty) Ltd, International Slab Sales (Pty) Ltd, Jacobs Douwe Egberts ZA (Pty) Ltd, Woolworths Limited, AfriSam (South Africa) (Pty) Ltd, Restonic, EasyLifeKitchens and such other sponsors that may be introduced by Cardova (collectively “the Sponsors”).

   1.5 By submitting your application for My Design Rules, you accept and agree that the terms and conditions as set our herein are binding on you. A copy of these terms and conditions will be available on mydesignrules.tv

   2. Who can apply

   2.1 You have to apply as a duo (a team of 2 persons).

   2.2 In order to be considered as a Contender for the Competition, both partners of the due (unless otherwise stated herein) must: – 
   2.2.1 be citizens or permanent legal residents of the Republic of South Africa (“South Africa”);
   2.2.2 be 25 years of age or older;
   2.2.3 hold a valid South African driver’s license and have own transport;
   2.2.4 at least one of the duo must hold a tertiary degree or diploma in architecture, interior design or a related discipline and must have at least 2 year’s practical experience in managing a property-related project (We may consider other relevant qualifications and/or experience at our discretion);
   2.2.5 ensure that, if selected as a Contender, they can be fully available to participate in the Competition at the required locations as directed by Cardova for the full duration of the Competition Period; 
   2.2.6 not be a director, member, partner, employee, agent or consultant of Cardova, the SABC, any of the Sponsors, or any of their holding companies or subsidiaries (collectively “Stakeholders”). 

   3. How to apply

   3.1 Applications will be received online between June and 10 August 2025, or such other date determined by Cardova at its sole discretion (“Application Period”). A notice with be posted on mydesignrules.tv when applications are closed.

   3.2 To apply, you must complete the application form that is available on (forms.gle/x8nQQZFczTcfazgm8) and upload all requested information, content and/or documents within the Application Period (“Application”). 

   4. How Contenders will be selected

   4.1 Cardova will in its sole discretion select a shortlist of applicants who will be invited for auditions via an online platform on such dates and times determined by Cardova. Cardova may at any time at its sole discretion cancel or withdraw an invitation that was sent to an applicant. Please note that an invitation for an audition does not guarantee, imply or suggest that you will be selected as a Contender.

   4.2 Applicants who are invited for auditions (“Invited Applicants”), will be responsible for own arrangements and or costs (if any) to participate in the online auditions. 

   4.3 Both persons making up the duo of an Invited Applicant will be required to attend the audition.

   4.4 If Invited Applicants are for any reason unable to attend the audition, they will not be considered as a Contender and shall have no claim against Cardova.

   4.5 Unless otherwise determined by Cardova, Cardova will at its sole discretion select a total of 3x duos as Contenders from the Invited Applicants, who will be invited to participate in the Competition. Participation in the Competition will be subject to both persons from each selected duo entering into and signing a written Participation Agreement that will govern the Contender’s participation in the Competition, My Design Rules and related activities. Should either one of the selected duo fail to sign the aforementioned Participation Contract within 48 hours from receiving same from Cardova, that duo shall forfeit its opportunity to participate in the Competition and shall have no claim against Cardova.

   5. The Competition overview and determination of the Winner

   5.1 The Competition will require Contender to participate in various property-related design challenges and will be conducted and filmed at various locations within South Africa during the Competition Period. Notwithstanding the aforementioned, the majority of the Competition will be conducted in Paarl and Cape Town.

   5.2 Cardova will provide for reasonable fuel allowance, accommodation and subsistence for the Contender to participate in the Competition during the Competition Period.

   5.3 The winning duo of the Competition will be determined at the sole discretion of Cardova, or its appointed representatives (e.g. Judges).

   6. Prizes

   6.1 The Contender duo who is determined as the ultimate winner of the Competition by the My Design Rules judges (Judges Choice winners) will receive a cash prize of R400 000 in total to be shared equally between the 2 persons making up the winning duo.

   6.2 The Contender duo who is determined as the winner of the Viewers’ Choice competition that will be run by Cardova during the broadcast period of My Design Rules will receive a cash prize of R100 000 in total to be shared equally between the 2 persons making up the winning duo.

   7. By submitting your Application, you acknowledge/agree/submit that: – 

   7.1 If selected as a Contender herein, you will be available to participate in the Competition, without restriction, for the full duration of the Competition Period on such dates and times determined by Cardova.

   7.2 You are 25 years of age or older.

   7.3 You are a permanent legal resident of South Africa and you will produce your valid South African ID, or other valid ID with the necessary visas/permits that allows you to live and work without restrictions in South Africa, if and when requested to do so.

   7.4 All the information included on your Application and/or otherwise provided by you to Cardova is true, that all material submitted by you is your own work and that your Application does not include any material or information that may infringe the rights of any third party in any way and you indemnify Cardova against any such claims.

   7.5 You have no contractual or other legal obligations that may conflict with your Application or participation in My Design Rules and or the Competition.

   7.6 The Contenders and the winners of the Competition will be determined in the sole discretion of Cardova, and/or its appointed representatives (e.g. the Judges). You irrevocably accept and agree that Cardova’s and/or its appointed representatives’ decisions regarding the aforesaid will be final and you will not challenge same. 

   7.7 My Design Rules is sponsored by the Sponsors and, if selected as a Contender, you agree to make use of and/or engage with Sponsor products as and when required throughout the Competition. 

   7.8 you expressly consent and agree that we may collect, get, receive, record, organise, collate, store, update, change, retrieve, read, process, consult, use and share your personal information for the purposes of administering your Application and participation relating to My Design Rules and the Competition. You also consent to Cardova using your personal information for conducting background checks. 

   7.9 You acknowledge that the Competition and related activities will be televised as part and parcel of the Programme and/or as otherwise distributed by Cardova in all media now in existence or hereafter invented throughout the world in perpetuity. If selected as a Contender, you will be required to sign a filming release related to your appearance on the Programme to give effect Cardova’s distribution rights. 

   7.10 Should Cardova decide not to proceed with the Competition and/or My Design Rules, for any reason whatsoever, Cardova may in its sole discretion elect to terminate this Application without any liability to you.

   7.11 These terms and conditions will be construed, interpreted and enforced in accordance with the laws of the Republic of South Africa.

   7.12 Cardova, its directors, employees, representatives and/or agents shall not be held liable and you hereby indemnify and hold harmless Cardova, its directors, employees, representatives and/or agents against any damage, claim or loss of whatsoever nature arising from your Application and/or participation in the Competition and/or Programme.

   7.13 Cardova reserves the right to amend the terms and conditions as set out herein at any time at its sole discretion without notice.

   8. You warrant that:

   8.1 You understand and accept the terms and conditions contained herein and agree to be bound to these terms and conditions.

   8.2 you have the legal capacity to send your Application and to participate in the Programme and the Competition.
