It’s the season premiere of My Design Rules, South Africa’s electrifying new interior design and renovation reality show.
Our journey starts in Cape Town as four talented design duos audition for a chance to be on the show. Their task is to design and execute a beautiful bathroom space in limited time. Who will impress the judges and make it through?

Meet the Duos competing in the first of two bathroom challenges hosted by CTM.
MPUMELELO NENE + MONGEZI MSOMI
Both originally from KZN, this duo currently calls Cape Town home. Mpumelelo is a passionate Interior Designer & 3D Artist with experience in both Interior and Architectural works.
Mongezi is an Architectural & Furniture Designer, inspired by Authenticity. They’re looking merge functionality with story telling, celebrating African cultural references in a modern manner.
THABANG MALAMATSHO + BONGANI PUZA
Thabang and Bongani are two young designers with qualifications in architectural technology and interior design. They have been working together for years, and met as students at Cape Peninsula University of Technology. Their design style is a mix of modern minimalism and African luxury.
They believe in letting the materials speak for themselves, using elements like exposed brick, natural wood, and concrete to create a warm and inviting atmosphere.
YASHNA BALWANTH + ALYSSA JAIRUS
Yashna brings an interesting edge to this design & renovation competition, with her magazine editorial background.
Together with Alyssa, who is an interior designer with own an art business, they’re looking to impress the #MyDesignRules judges in the first challenge of the competition.
KEATON MESSINA + HANNAH MORGAN
Hannah and Keaton are colleagues, fortuitously brought together to work for celebrity chef, Jan Hendrik van der Westhuizen.
Together, at JAN Innovation Studio, they have handled countless high-pressure situations on tight budgets, pulling off stunning events with flair. As a duo, they understand each other’s tastes, strengths, and weaknesses.
