Cape Town’s “architects turned challengers.” Tiaan from Durbanville and Ronelle from Bellville first met while studying architecture and have stayed connected ever since. Their design philosophy merges technical precision with soulful touches. Tiaan moonlights as a DJ, bringing rhythm to his creative process, while Ronelle is preparing for her upcoming wedding – making their journey on My Design Rules even more meaningful this season.

These spaces form the vibrant heart of our home – warm, tactile, and alive with creativity. In designing our kitchen, scullery, and dining area, we collaborated with several remarkable local artists whose work brings raw materials, texture, and soul into every corner.
At the center of the kitchen stands a striking marble island: both sculptural and functional, it sets the tone for the entire space. The same gorgeous marble reappears in the dining room, where it serves as a dramatic backsplash inside our built-in cupboards, softly illuminated by integrated LED lighting that highlights every nuanced vein and detail. Throughout the kitchen and scullery, Caesarstone worktops offer durability and elegance, grounding the space in a clean, cohesive aesthetic.
Every appliance has been thoughtfully integrated – fitting snugly into purpose-built counters and cupboards. These choices reflect our belief that practicality and beauty are at their best when they work together.
Above all, we designed these rooms to feel alive. Sculptures, curated lighting, and bespoke marble artworks bring an expressive, intimate energy that ties the entire space together. This is where creativity meets craft, where daily routines become rituals, and where the art of living truly comes to life.
