It’s deadline week on My Design Rules as the design duos push to complete both their main bedrooms and bathrooms at the same time. It’s considered the sanctuary of the home, but there will be no rest until the job is done.
Last week our duos started transforming their main bedroom and bathrooms. After finalising their vision, they got to work renovating the spaces. Now the pressure is on as it’s judging week. Will team Fire walk away with another room victory, or will they be knocked off their throne?
To get our duos feeling inspired they visited two incredible apartments at the V&A Waterfront that are also listed on Private Property. Our duos get some expert advice from agents Lynn Pinn, Kelly Wells and Arthur Sierra as well as designer and developer Stiaan Herbst.
and designers around how to increase value such as keeping colours neutral and classic, elevating the design with custom finishes and looking to the surrounding landscape to inspire colour choices and textures.
With deadline day around the corner, everyone gets their hand dirty! While Hannah is out shopping for supplies, Keaton has been promoted to tiler. Josua heads to BUCO in search of the perfect lighting fixtures and then joins Zweli for a visit to Swartland Windows and Doors, to find out how their custom doors are going.
Back on site the team from Eco Oak Wood Flooring arrive to install spectacular engineered oak parquet flooring in Team Air, Earth and Water’s bedrooms. Team Fire, or team klompies as they are also now know as, have opted for klompie tiles from CTM in their bedroom. These tiles have been specially manufactured locally by Revelstone.
Creating the right mood is essential in a bedroom and choosing the perfect light fixtures makes all the difference. To help with this, Team Earth approached Wire World, the largest lighting manufacturer in the country. They then moved onto the final touches to their room like adding a state of the art smart safe from Yale. One fantastic feature of the safe is that they are able to control it using the Yale Home app directly from their Samsung phone. The final touch… a cutting-edge smart TV and there is only one place to get it…. Samsung!
With another room almost complete, our duos are one step closer to the grand prize!
