THE SEMI-FINALS: EPISODE 12

Previously on My Design Rules – our duelling duos completed their lounges, and it was a photo finish – Team Air taking the challenge just ahead of Team Earth.

With each of the room winners now decided, just one week remains to complete these 4 competing visions and for the judges to rule who will be crowned winners, along with the grand prize of R300 000 from Capitec, plus another R100 000 from Capitec for the viewer’s favourite.

Time to fix the snags – those rough, incomplete, not quite right details of each room – while implementing the judges feedback from throughout the competition. As the final day of judging looms large.

For more inspiration with their finishing touches, and seeking that final, winning edge, Team Fire visits a pair of trendsetting Tamboerskloof properties. Whether you’re searching on the value side, looking for a candidate for your design vision, or seeking more of that stand out kind of property at the top end of the market – Private Property has something in Tamboerskloof to fit any budget. All, just a click away on PrivateProperty.co.za.

Back at the building we bring in the experts from  St Gobain to help waterproofing and we discover why choosing the tight grouting like the ProGrip grouting from CTM is so important!

The Teams also meet city building inspector Damien Christians to find out how much you can do without having to submit plans, chat lighting with Natasha Stroebel of Eurolux and solar solutions with Ingo Hamann of Stiebel Eltron .

Inside the apartments things are taking shape and Team Earth are giving serious props to what their Samsung products bring to the party interns of design and functionality. Another design element all the teams are loving is their Caesarstone surfaces! From kitchen counters to bathroom vanities, table tops and fireplace feature walls, Caesarstone is the star of the show!

With every room shipshape, our teams use their free day and their skills to build a greener tomorrow.

With our designing duos having done everything they can, they’ve taken a day off before judging begins to join Buco and Capitec in building something else. A greener environment for the children who call the Rainbow of Hope house …….their home.

To create an instant garden from the ground up, Buco delivers robust planters and it doesn’t take long from there.

Like her team of fellow Capitec volunteers, Irmilee Uys considers a grassroots approach the best for building a better South Africa.

Fire, Earth, Water, Air! It’s still anyone’s to win, so tune in on Sunday 22 December at 7pm on SABC3 to see who will be crowned winners of My Design Rules, with that grand prize of R300,000 from Capitec, plus another R100,000 rand for the viewer’s favourite.
