House Signature Chardonnay – Beulah Hlatshwayo (29) &
Mufhenyi “Fefe” Mashamba (34)
Johannesburg power duo Beulah and Fefe bring more than 15 years of combined business and design experience to Season 2. Beulah, founder of Beautiful Spaces with Beulah, reached the Top 8 of My Design Rules last season and is back to prove she has what it takes to win. Fefe, owner of M Y Studio Interiors, specialises in creating stylish, functional spaces. Together, they’re blending entrepreneurial drive with a passion for interiors to deliver high-impact designs.
Representing Johannesburg, Fefe and Beulah are long-time admirers of each other’s work, teaming up with the shared goal of making a lasting mark on South Africa’s design landscape.
Fefe’s passion for design began in childhood, inspired by the structures and spaces around her. Supported by her family, she’s built her career around that early curiosity and creativity; her mom proudly says, “She makes me very proud.”
Beulah, an interior designer who specialises in renovations, describes her Project Farmhouse as her signature work, serene, elegant and true to her personality. She loves clean lines, avoids fleeting trends and designs with timelessness in mind.
House Signature Chenin – Tiaan Jacobs (35) & Ronelle Scholtz (26)
Cape Town’s “architects turned challengers.” Tiaan from Durbanville and Ronelle from Bellville first met while studying architecture and have stayed connected ever since. Their design philosophy merges technical precision with soulful touches. Tiaan moonlights as a DJ, bringing rhythm to his creative process, while Ronelle is preparing for her upcoming wedding – making their journey on My Design Rules even more meaningful this season.
Although Ronelle had to convince Tiaan to enter, their chemistry and shared design vision prove they’re exactly where they’re meant to be. Tiaan, an architectural technologist, grew up in a DIY household where his mom’s fearless approach to home projects sparked his early love for design. A lifelong Sims player who once designed his own family home in Yzerfontein, he combines technical precision with a playful imagination.
Ronelle, also an architectural technologist, hopes to use the prize money for her upcoming wedding and future home. Initially hesitant to apply, she was encouraged by her partner to believe in her talent. Calm under pressure and gifted at problem-solving, Ronelle brings a practical yet refined sensibility to every challenge.
House Signature Shiraz – Zanelle Basson (25) & Lee Jacobs (43)
The wildcards of Season 2. Both from Paarl, Zanelle is a horse-riding enthusiast with a meticulous eye for detail, while Lee is a former Mr South Africa runner up, a popular radio presenter and a familiar face in the lifestyle space. They’ve never met before – but the My Design Rules team paired them up for this season to see whether hometown pride and complementary skills can translate into winning designs.
Zanel credits her creativity to her parents, whom she
describes as “super talented with what they can achieve
with their hands.” Determined and goal-driven, she
approaches each task with the belief that what she sets her mind to, she will achieve.
Based in Paarl, Lee is an interior designer whose work reflects his surroundings, blending Cape Dutch and Art Deco influences. Coming from a family rooted in the building trade, he continues that legacy after pivoting from a degree in law to pursue his true calling in interior design.
