The wildcards of Season 2. Both from Paarl, Zanelle is a horse-riding enthusiast with a meticulous eye for detail, while Lee is a former Mr South Africa runner up, a popular radio presenter and a familiar face in the lifestyle space. They’ve never met before – but the My Design Rules team paired them up for this season to see whether hometown pride and complementary skills can translate into winning designs.

Our guest bedroom is a serene retreat inspired by the timeless architecture of the Cape Winelands, where Cape Dutch heritage meets modern refinement. The space is anchored by a beautifully crafted custom headboard. A subtle nod to the iconic gables and sculpted lines of historic homesteads. Its form and detailing bring a quiet grandeur to the room, while the décor thoughtfully echoes these classical influences in a contemporary way.
A palette of soft, natural neutrals sets a calming tone, reminiscent of sun-warmed farm walls and sandstone landscapes. Accents of deep burgundy weave through the space, paying homage to our signature Shiraz theme. A gentle infusion of colour that adds depth, warmth, and a sense of place.
Modern elements are layered with classical touches to create a harmonious balance: clean silhouettes, elegant textures, and curated décor pieces that whisper sophistication without overwhelming the senses. The result is a room that feels both grounded in heritage and beautifully current. A true Cape Winelands sanctuary designed for comfort, connection, and quiet luxury.
