Last week on My Design Rules the duos tackled their main en-suite bedrooms. After 2 weeks of design drama, Team Earth came out on top. Now, they’re ready to cook up something special as they take on their next challenge – the kitchen!
To help them with their designs, each duo is working with one of the many Easy Life Kitchens franchises. Team Water teams up with Siphiwo Zungu in the City Bowl and Team Fire is pairing up with Jade Bence from Easy Life Kitchens Somerset West, who hopes she can help bring their vision to life.
For Team Earth’s kitchen design, they team up with Clarissa Havenga, from Easy Life Kitchens Brackenfell and Team Air is drawing on the experience of Martin Aylward, from Easy Life Kitchens City Bowl.
Each team has also been provided with a stunning slab of their choice from our friends at Caesarstone!
With their first win being them Team Earth is feeling confident and decide to create a special DIY feature in their kitchen – a unique built-in wine rack!
But everything is not going to plan as Team Fire discover that there was an inconsistency in the dimensions of their kitchen while measuring the space with a lazer level tool, their beautiful klompie tile flooring is not quite as level as they had hoped and they forgot to measure out a place to install their Samsung Hob to onto their countertop! Team Air is also faced delays, slow progress and tension leading them to have to make some adjustments to their original design and Team Earth is faced with a backlog of installations!
There’s still plenty of work to be done before the end, where the overall winning duo walks away with R300k from Capitec and the viewer’s favourite wins an additional R100k, as voted by you on mydesignrules.tv
